Everyone learns at a different rate. I have seen some learn in under 5 minutes, but most riders can learn how to ride within an hour or two of ride time. Please click the TUTORIALS tab for free video tutorials on learning to ride.

Each electric vehicle is different and top speed is determined by battery discharge rate and motor power. The vehicles here at Wheel Habit have a top speeds ranging from 18mph on some of the beginers wheels like the KS-14D to 31mph on wheels like the KS-S18 and the KS-16X.

Each Electric Vehicle has a different range due to its battery capacity and each riding situation will result in a different range depending on factors like the speed of the trip and the weight of the rider. The range for each vehicl is listed on it respective product page, and are typically calculated based on ideal cases. Realistically the range on a wheel will be half that of the ideal range advertised by manufacturers.

Why does speed matter? There are always energy losses when riding an Electric vehicle that are due to friction and most of that friction is due to air resistance. The amount of energy loss due to air friction mostly depends on how fast you're going the faster you go the more energy you will lose during your trip.

Why does weight matter? A heavier rider will consume more of the batteries energy when accelerating and decelerating. This will result in a decrease of range.

Electric vehicles are much easier to maintain than vehicles powered by internal combustion engines. There is no need for oil changes, checking fluids or changing filters. Because of the mechanical simplicity of EUC's, there are only a couple of things that need to be done in the way of maintenance.

DAILY: Before you ride each time you should check for loose screws and ensure proper tire pressure. After you ride you should recharge the battery so it is ready to go the next time around.

YEARLY: Depending on how much you ride you may need to change out your tire between every six months to a year.

AS NEEDED: When your EUC eventually becomes dirty you can wipe it down with a wet sponge. some wheels can even be sprayed with a hose and washed but only if it has a waterproof rating of IP-55 or above.

EUC's sometimes require repair if they are damaged in a crash, but don't fret - we have a wide range of tutorial videos to get your wheel back in working order. Please see our SUPPORT page for repair videos on common repairs for our various products. To order replacement parts please CONTACT US with the part needed and we will order the part from the manufacturer.

Each state and city has their own laws regulating the use of helmets; however, wearing a helmet is always recommended to prevent a head injury.

The ideal helmet for an EUC will be different for each rider, but many riders opt for the protection of a full faced helmet with a down hill (DH) sports rating.

All kids and parents are different and it is ultimately up to the discretion of the parent to decide whether or not their child is ready to ride an EUC. The Electric unicycle is still a fairly new product on the market, and there are obvious risks to riding; however, there are some ways to mitigate that risk when considering allowing your child to ride an EUC.

1) SAFTEY GEAR: The first thing is protective gear. If you decide to purchase an EUC for your child you should absolutely have them wear a full faced helmet, knee and elbow pads.

2) SPEED LIMITER: Each EUC brand has a downloadable APP compatible with IOS & Android which allows users to change the top speed limit. Some of these EUC's ar capable of speeds up to 31mph, so its very important to check the wheels speed capability and to lower the speed limit using the app. Accorting to the Federal Highway Administration the average child can ride a bicycle between 7-10mph. I would start with setting up a speed limit in that range. For instructions on how to set the speed limit on an EUC see our tutorial SETTING SPEED LIMIT.

Each state and city has its own rules and regulations governing the use of personal electric transportation. Please check your state and local regulations to understand where you can and can't ride.

Note: Please respect and follow your local laws! The EUC is still a fairly new phenomenon and provides users with one of the most exhilarating and freeing forms of movement available. As riders it's up to us to protect our ability to enjoy our EUC's by following local laws and being courteous of pedestrians.

Every State and City has it's own laws, but It's not recommended to ride an EUC on the sidewalk when there are pedestrians present. You should always give pedestrians plenty of space when riding and ride slowly if you are in a situation where you are riding close to people.
